“Yes, it's true” I told my friend’s
ten-year-old granddaughter
proudly wearing her jersey
jersey with the bichon friese pup
picture on the front -
“there are Labradoodles and Yorka-poos
Cockapoos and Spoodles, haven't you heard?”

“Really?” She laughed, her eyes big with surprise
at the names from these breed combos
"Just check the pet ads in the paper and
you'll find Lhasa-poms and Shih-poos
malti-poos, maybe even marmadoodles,” I tossed in
okay, perhaps a little carried away
by her mesmery, with that one.

We didn’t get to Ragdoll Kittens yet
I saved the felines ’til the next time
