Angels in the Snow

by Mike Loftis

We made angels in the snow
I guess I was three
We lay on our backs and moved our arms up and down
What a wonderful gift she gave to me

We made angels in the snow
and when we were done
I looked back with youthful amazement
at how they glistened 'neath the winter's sun

We made angels in the snow
and somehow I was sure
That God, creator of angels,
needed just these two angels more

We made angels in the snow
I don't recall the cold
just the warmth of her love around me
it seemed more than one heart could hold

We made angels in the snow
I guess I was three
we lay on our backs and moved our arms up and down
what a wonderful gift she gave to me

Good one Mike. We didn't have snow when I was growing up. So instead of snowball fights we had clay ball fights.....Charlie

What warmth of description, wonder of life, tribute to nostalgia! You catch so beautifully the joy and wonder of the very young.

Being a Michigander, and the son of a mother who taught me this artform, your crystaline poem has made a lasting impression, and I can easily relate to its shivering effect. Pe4ce...

What a beautiful poem about the reciprocal love between a mother and a son... and the God who created them to BE. This brings tears to my eyes.

This is flawless in its beauty and purity. A glimpse of how things should be and the comfort of loved ones making us warm.... beautiful.
