haiku (burning bush)

by David R Spellman

announcing autumn,
each leaf
a fiery tongue

Author's Note: Burning Bush, a.k.a. Winged Euonymus (Euonymus alata), is a shrub native to northeastern Asia through central China. Introduced as an ornamental, it is now quite common in many areas. Its leaves turn a flaming scarlet in late summer/early fall and is quite a striking and beautiful indication of the seasonal change.

...a prophet in its own right. I love this shrub, and so appreciate the haiku describing it! Really good writing, observing and thinking, David.

Very descriptive! I have a bush whose leaves turn red in the fall The name escapes me at the moment but your description reminds me of it.
