living alone

by John Ilotan

I live alone now
On wine and thoughts
Of you
Memories dissolve slowly
Like a sugarcube on my tounge
A little sweetness
To feed a bitter heart

Left homeless in the cold
The wind whistles
Through this hole in me
Blowing out the light

But if i could just
Hold your hand
Over my heart
I know
You would love me
Again

The last few lines were killer.. how it makes the heart ache! You've chosen the perfect words for this poem.. amazing piece.

I actually liked the first lines more. The last lines are begging to burst, but aren't quite there. Then again, who can tell the heart how it aches? Very honest.
