Sixth Sense

by Rula Shin

I speak loudly to you with grounded tongue
an intentional slaying of spoken word-spells
floating, body-waves brushing evocatively as
they cross paths meant just for them

Though mesmerize these may, the silence of
one notion between us cries out
erupting in an ocean of smoldering waves
reality in this moment dancing fiercely
like an invisible volcanic rise of
fire on fire

A relentless voice beckons those humble
chocolate eyes to melt warm like the
rich breathing blood in my veins
surging and returning as

Trembling lips barely
part the soft sweet air surrounding
the fragile space articulating our faces

Fathom inside the tides approaching in wild whispers to
swell the cavern deep within my ruby red heart
mending the rift of wasted years with a single
binding pulse created by the intangible
touch of our nameless, timeless friction

Sinking my teeth into your soulÂ’s luscious fruit
I am overwhelmed by an extraordinary taste of
divinity so intimate yet elusive
a spiritual merging of molten colors
never before spoken or heard

I come to rest within you dear
as you seep into me
our senses falling silent
we simply come to
BE

Rula, I love the sound and meaning in the first line of grounded tongue...great intro. Volcanoes and fire however as in the second stanza have been used so many...too many times in poetry, and in my opinion, the poem would do fine without that stanza. What follows is much stronger and quite stimulating. Excellent closeout in that last. :o)

This one is sublime: vivid and evocative with a voice that melts stone.

An exquisite telling of heartfelt emotions culminating in the bodily expression of them. Potent stuff wonderfully written.

Everything about this poem is brilliant. The flow, the imagery, everything.

Great poem, so thick and yet so light ...

Intuitive poetry, Rula. This one is like magma rising to the caldera that is burning sensation. Maybe it's just me, but it seems to run on like one exhaustive sentence. I wonder if it might read smoother with periods to accompany the commas, or perhaps omit the commas and use metered line breaks to further accentuate this fiery piece. Just an idea, either way it cooks and I love it. Pe4ce...

Each stanza is a wave of understanding and imagery that undulates with wisdom and words that fill the senses. The only suggestion I could make is to make the last word "BE" its own line at the end, so that it could echo in the reader's consciousness.

‘I speak loudly to you with grounded tongue’…..speaking without speaking and missing nothing since they ‘cross paths meant just for them’. This piece, externally, seems to be reflecting the power of silence ( and could have justified this title) but its here in this context that the sixth sense came into fore in the ‘mesmerizing moments’ of these ‘relentless’ silence ‘crying out’ erupting in an ocean of smoldering waves, reality in this moment dancing fiercely like an invisible volcanic rise of fire on fire, a relentless voice’. This is depiction of the power of silence. And this silence isn’t empty. It is vibrating , undulating WHAT IS on a level one penetrates with ‘ a single binding pulse created by the intangible touch of our nameless, timeless friction.’ NAMELESS TIMELESS FRICTION. Yes, Words fail. Wordlessness succeeds in ‘ a spiritual merging of molten colors never before spoken or heard’ But on a deeper layer this seems to be concluding that the blunt speaking speaks less than the silence which ‘communicates’ at a deeper layer in thoughtlessness. Where the words failed, silence spoke and portrayed the essence of the ‘feel’. You, your self, seem to be resisting using the only word we know of, to express these beautiful feelings but then you do express it more loudly in , nameless timeless friction’ .Yes, the ‘word’ means nothing, the vibrations attached to the word and the underlying association fills the atmosphere with the word, in wordlessness. As a poet, I can understand your dilemma of using words on silence but let me say you did succeed by using word to propound the power of silence. The truth is that no word is capable of carrying exact impressions of the vibrations which we emanate and with which the atmosphere is filled with, when we speak in silence. Though, you did your best. Normally we all tend to use words and vibrate no impressions, but here in the realm of sixth sense, you seem to be conveying the beauty of wordless ‘word’ vibrating and filling the space with its presence. Its just there. It just is. No words are needed. Just sensing and sensing in thoughtlessness is the experience of the sixth sense. In nut shell what you are saying is that its the SENSING of the LOVE vibrating from every where to every where and not just an intellectual expression of LOVE. And well this is only possible when one is inside the WORD and the WORD is inside him that words become meaningless. And you speak in silence. The WORD speaks in WORDLESSNESS. The LOVE speaks without speaking. Word doesn’t create LOVE. Word will not create LOVE. The undefinable just can’t be defined. The boundless just can’t be bounded. The observer and the observed ‘simply COME TO BE’ in a state untouched by the known five senses in the realm of SILENCE through this sixth sense.
