Images of war 01 - Eleven (edited again) by Paganini JonesEleven
Once, one and one
made two
later in jest
and childish logic
we saw it made
eleven.
and so of course
eleven halved
was one,
and thus
eleven equalled two!
later still
eleven was a birthday
longed for,
as a kind of growing up,
a time for moving on
and new exciting things.
Years later
as we wed
eleven took another taste ,
rejoicing celebration, love
But always hidden at the back
eleven held its darker shades
as we wore poppies
every red remembrance day
and year on year we
understood a little more.
Strange
to think again
of childish laughter
years ago
when now symbolic
1 and 1
speak loud of twin towers
smouldering in our hearts;
the anniversary
of our marriage
shared
with memories
of the thousands dead;
and of a world
twisted, out of shape,
deranged.
