To Give my Lips a Memory by Kenneth LauIt's been years
But still, you haunt my dreams
That kiss I never had
But long for
With every fiber of my existence
As if my experience is unique
I know
Many have had this trouble before
But something about the constant ache in my stomach
The way I struggle to breathe
Each time I recall the lost opportunities
Pleads with the Fates
To give me the end I so crave
To the tale of my undoing
I awake, as the taste escapes me
The taste of your kiss
So close, it is practically a memory
But the sane cannot imprint
A past which has not seen the light of their eyes
The agony of this
The regret, the hunger, the constant longing
Has me in the fit of a child
Whimpering in a dark corner
But there is something far more profound
About the tantrums of a grown man
What a spell the should have been
Has cast upon me
What an undoing it has all been
So to clear my thoughts
To have a new sense of purpose, I vow
(For I am parched)
To steal from you what the world knows I've earned
One, love-quenching kiss
To give my lips a memory. 09/07/2004 Author's Note: Boy, you think the past is the past and then the side-pains start all over again. And you realize that you've only coated your longing with the business of the rest of your life. I thought at college I was supposed to get homesick, not lovesick.

Has me in the fit of a child
Whimpering in a dark corner
