The Night Fell Silent by Melissa Arel
I saw you collapsed, crying in the dark
Two eyes peering through the familiar darkness
Swollen blood-red from an overflow of tears
Tissues surrounding your fragile form
Like clouds of cotton
An angel lost amidst a fury of emotion
I could do nothing to console
the penetrating sadness leaking from your pores
So I quietly slipped away
Leaving you there to battle your demons
While the night fell silent
The trembling moon tenderly wept with you
