this is me (my wings once balanced)

by Scott Cadence

this is me pretending to be fearless
sometimes its the only way it can be done

this is me trying to speak in pentecostal tongue
but their faces still stand in confusion

this is me stumbling with the legs of a child
it seems I am reborn everyday in one way or another

Just let there be time...

when the wheels turning pace doesn’t make the scenery blur
let the beauty stand out and catch me - reach down through the layers - where I am still alive

when the pain I feel right now becomes expected and understood
because the suffering of love is as great and powerful as the passion in it

when the descending arm of my mistake(s) strike a reckoning in my actions tomorrow
and the forces of my character flourish toward its true nature - hopefully for the best

allow this knowledge embedded within find its way into open spaces
fill in the darkness of uncertainty and mounting questions with the comfort of love and patience

where my heart still beats despite the weight of these things in my life
because my wings - once balanced - I know shall fly
