An Evolution To Revolution

by J. P. Davies

This is my revolution...

Would you ever stand up
and say just what you mean?
Your silence is written in failure
of the mind, a drawn-out death scene.

Politicians push down,
while we're trying to rise up.
Could you tell me how it tastes
drinking from your golden cup?

It's just a perspective
looking at us from above.
Always showing power
never demonstrating love.

I wonder how;
how we keep from flying on.
As we sit here on the ground
always content to be stepped on.

It's a sad song;
and we're wasting all our days.
Facing down, breaking backs,
getting burned by the suns rays.

It's just today;
maybe the people will have faith
we got to state our own demands
before we're lost in the rat race.

Could you show me some love?
It's evolution.
Could it come from up above?
Or is this just a build up,

to a new revolution.

Author's Note: Listening to some good hip-hop, this was inspired.
