Moon Water

by Melissa Arel

I sat by the river, the pebbles scattered nearby
My toes in the sand while balancing my feet
And across my face, creeped a smile

I saw duck feathers float on the water ripples
As webbed feet paddled on by
I bent over and stared at the moon's reflection
In the emerald flowing green tide

I blew a kiss to this moon water
Surrounded by silt and sand
The chalky chuckling face laughed back
And so, I reached out my hand

With trembling fingers, I raised my arms
High above my head and sighed
So simply beautiful was this night
And so simply beautiful are Your eyes

The moon water touched my skin
And Your heavenly finger touched my lips
You told me to be brave now
And it felt like I'd been kissed

Just give me one more moment
To breathe in this crisp night air
And I'll rest easy, slumber sweet
Knowing I felt You here.

I think this is beautiful and it captures one of those fleeting moments of beauty and awe that we always hope we'll remember forever!

Once again, Perfect. I was expecting the duck to come up and attack you or something. I don't know why. Lol. I love moments like these. Makes me miss the ocean when the moon is rising.

Yes, you have captured the 'scene' in all its beauty and have presented the essence.
