Topic: Don't Laugh at July

by Alison McKenzie

ItÂ’s a scorcher,
As usual -
Random lightening strikes
Bring on the flames!
The river steams in the afternoon inferno;
Rage of a season
Burning everything in its path.

But you!
My God, but you blossom here
In the heat!
(Brilliant flora of radiant delight)
July is no joke
This year
I love July,
For here you are
In this waterless season of Hell
Alive
(While I cry oceans of joy)

LOL! Believe it or not, sounds like Ottawa today.

This is absolutely lovely Alison, truly a lonely blossom found amidst the drought is the most beautiful symbol of hope. I really love your delivery here as the joy you express overflows and quenches the very thirst you speak of in this heat of July. Great poem hon :-)
