Ribbons

by Amanda Conlogue

I am tied to you
heart and soul
with ribbons
thin and wide
satin and velveteen
great, frilly bows
wrapped around a present
and when you come home
I'll still be here
waiting to be opened.

I love this poem - it just expresses so sensuously anticipated desire, without being overtly erotic. Good work!

A truly sweet poem, with just the right amount of syrup. A great update to the "tie a yellow ribbon..." phenomenon.
