Saviors R Us

by Max Bouillet

Oops, he fell off the cross again. Is there any way we can get him to stick any better?

More nails.

Aw c’mon, we can’t do that. Look it, we already pin-cushioned his arms and legs.

If you don’t have the stomach for this, go find another way to save the world.

Oh, I know! Let’s put some carpenter’s tacks on a metal band, wrap it around his head and shove it back into the wood.

Yea, that’ll work. That may even stop that peeling problem.

You’re right, but how would we spin it? I mean, it’s not a typical crucifixion thing.

All we have to do is spread a rumor about him being a king. Then we’ll say that they put on his head so they could ridicule him. We could call it a “crown of nails.”

Not nails. I’m tired of nails. We want a universal savior. If the current theme keeps up, only the carpenter’s unions will worship ‘em. We need some different symbolism. How about thorns? Yea, a crown of thorns. That will give an allusion to roses. Much better.

That about wraps it up for this meeting. If everything goes according to plan we should get him elected savior by the end of the week. Great work.

Author's Note: This comes from going to church after watching too many political commentary shows on television.

I'm amazed anyone can differentiate between politics and religion - both are based on truth, selflessness and that inevitable cross. A provocative clash of symbols - I hope the Calvary arrives before you get crucified...

WoW, really interesting. I can imagine a bunch of corporate execs sitting around some large table discussing this. Very cool.

I was ready to be offended on this one. Instead it came across to me as very timely satire! Biting, some sting as well! Sadly what should be humble Christlikeness, looks too often more like a political sound byte!
