I Won the Battle Before it Began

by Rula Shin

I predetermine my WIN
This very moment
Intending Self concedes no defeat,
My single I a triumphant fleet
Before the battle even begins!

It is those ‘others’ playing their games
At prices too high for my one self to pay,
This parasitic prolific army against my lonely fleet
Of one as they scurry to defeat
My WHOLE, for they know in
My golden circle they donÂ’t belong,
For circles are complete, undivided and
It wonÂ’t be long before the molten ring solidifies,
Made up of only one I, one intention at any
One timeÂ…

I am one self against a whole army
Dare ME to back down when the
Deed is already done
The war before the battle WON! Ha!

I predetermine my WIN,
Translating resolve into action,
I live in the present and so die in
The present, every moment to
Moment attention in tact,
Continuity devoid of cracksÂ…

Â’WhereÂ’s the army now?!Â’ I ask,
My single fleet now dense, compact,
as one KICK follows another knowing
The sixth of which will do
The trick I know it did already,
Oh! I finally understand the language of TRIUMPH!

I shall WIN because there is no
‘otherwise’, for wise is having already
Won before the battle even unfolds with
Nervous oafish armies drawing on my ONE
their feeble useless pathetic toy gunsÂ…

"This parasitic prolific army against my lonely fleet" Loved that line. This poem reminds me of Army of Me by Bjork.

such thoughtful and spirited poems as this cannot help but to victory. I am priviliged to walk in their Arch D' Triumphing and would be my privilige to laurel their wondrous intent. to victory then, Rula, no small feat as the foes are legion.

The intending self does concede defeat for want of energetic and recurring associations. But this self is ‘complete, undivided’ and ‘the lonely fleet to take up’ the ‘parasitic prolific army’ of undesired selves’ you seems to be battling against. This poem is the direct result of a ‘predetermined win’, a battle, how ever small but which makes us learn the ‘language of the TRIUMPH’, which lets us know the mechanism of the preparedness of this battle-‘ as one KICK follows another knowing The sixth of which will do the trick’. The resolve, the determination, the confidence derived from this WIN is evident and reflects in every word, every expression every phrase. You seem to be sounding the bugle declaring an all out war, another battle, you have predetermined to WIN. ‘ Dare ME to back down when the Deed is already done The war before the battle WON! Ha! ‘

So if your a defeatist it would be, "I lost the battle before I even knew there was one?" Great read with enough to think about to cause me a migraine every day for a year!
