The Wooden Boy on the Shelf by Jon-Jacob F DealI am the wooden boy on the shelf
You take me down when you're tired of all else
Hey! dust me off, Ho! pull my string
Don't I still say the darndest things?
And when my cord from your finger unwraps,
It crawls back in and you put me back
To find amusement in everything else--
I am just the wooden boy on the shelf. 06/24/2004 Posted on 06/24/2004 Copyright © 2025 Jon-Jacob F Deal

| Posted by Chris Sorrenti on 06/26/04 at 05:14 PM Quite the impactful piece of poetry. Although rhyme can sometimes be a dangerous thing to work with as it leads to forced words unrelated to the main idea, it works quite effectively here in bringing out the sadness of the subject. Kudos! |
