The Stranger by J. P. Daviesi.
There was a someone
who intangibly supported,
as my sky splintered.
Behind-the-scenes, standing
ready, for latenight musings,
she attuned to a stranger.
An outside party,
objective and uninvolved.
A name and picture onscreen.
ii.
There is a someone
who exists in formation,
in a separate world.
But she smiled, shook my hand,
laughed at the strangeness.
Identified instantaneously.
She walked corporeally
into my life, for one moment,
leaving as quickly. 06/18/2004 Author's Note: Yesterday I met someone I have only ever talked to on the internet. We ran into each other at the Quality Foods in Qualicum Beach. I was standing in line to get some ice cream and she walked by. "Janessa?!" says I. She turns around looks at me, "Where do I recognize you from?" Then she remembers and spouts off my e-mail address. I can't believe I recognized her in real-life at a glance.
