You

by Teri T Lahmon

I know you are waiting for me
Just beyond the edge of oblivion
Surrounded by goddess waters
With your
starlit eyes
and worn welcome mat smile
Your encircling arms are like
Coming home
Like
Stepping into heaven.

Author's Note: This woke me up at 5.30 this morning, speaking quietly (but insistently) in my brain. So I got out of bed and wrote it down. It's another Gentle & Pie poem. I can't decide if the first line should be you're or you are. I dislike contractions when writing, but "you're" sounds smoother when I read it. Maybe I will add more later. Perhaps not.

The first two lines along with these two especially stand out here: Your encircling arms are like Coming home. And yes I can relate to the timing, some of my best poems coming at the most inopportune hours. :o)
