Funny Little Moped

by Alison McKenzie

I dreamed of a future
And you were there
You pulled up on your little moped,
All decked out
Like a gassed up shopping cart
(There were very few vehicles
On the road for lack of fuel)
Laughing, like always
Making jokes at nothing
And everything
ItÂ’s your silliness
That makes you beautiful
Waking up this morning
In the present
I have no idea why you love me
So unconditionally
But I accept the gift,
Each and every breath
Filling me with the gratitude
Of your friendship
And I love you too.

Author's Note: This is an actual dream I had. I have no idea why. But the subject of the dream is a woman I work with, and she's been a wonderful friend.

Well, though a dream but not unassociated. You do love this woman. Whats the association which brought this moped alive, I am wondering.

Cute poem! I especially like the descriptiveness of this line: Like a gassed up shopping cart. Nice reminder of the mopeds I used to see here in Ottawa. I guess they were a fad, as for a year or so there were many of them, then I saw less and less of them.
