Deplorable Agony

by Alison McKenzie

My cell receptors are all addicted
They must be
To pain and rejection
To feeling abandoned
To righteous indignation
To sorrow and grief
For up to this point in my life
These are the experiences I have drawn upon
These are the emotions I have allowed
To suck the energy right out of me
My cell receptors embrace the chemicals made from these
My neurons jump to life
Which causes me to wallow
Here
In the depths of yet another agony
It is deplorable
But I can change it

Author's Note: I do believe the movie I saw yesterday will change my life. "What the Bleep Do We Know?" Amazing!

Well worded reminder of that old prayer, "Lord grant me the serenity to accept the things I can't change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference."
