Let's Don't Break Anymore Promises, OK? by Amy WustrinEvery breezy
Beautiful, blue-skied
Teusday morning
Boasting of bird-songs
And bathed in warmth
Is tainted by blood
Spilled from the top of the world
And raining down on America
While the flames and smoke
Concealing your jealousy and hatred
Meet the sky annd disappear
Congratulations, we're terrified.
But the river of blood from those
Lost American lives flows through us all
And we honor their memory
Meanwhile your ashes
Blew away with the wind
And we curse your lives
Jealousy and hatred eventually destroy
Those who entertain them
And neither 72 virgins
Nor a single lonely, desparate harlot
Will want to touch you after what you did
Where's you promise of heaven now?
But America's promise:
~*Never Again*~
Resounds throughout the world
And it seems to me that people demand
The promise be kept
So long as no action is taken
This terror has taught us nothing
~*(You've wasted your lives and ours)*~
Inaction is what brought us here
Inaction, by its very nature,
Is what will keep us here
Choose, America, and choose wisely:
Another day clutching your children to you, crying,
And not having the answer when they ask you "Why?"
Another attack on innocent people
Because we buried our heads in the sand
And hit the snooze button AGAIN??
Or do we uphold our promise of peace and security
The promise of "Never Again"
A promise which we *must* fight to keep
Can you look in the faces of your children and tell them
That their security isn't worth fighting for?
It's truly down to this
You're either with us or against us
Your neutrality is my death contract
But I won't die without a fight
And you'll have your share of blame
The next time it happens
(And lets not make the fatal mistake
Of being so arrogant to believe
That it won't happen again.
We didn't think it would happen in the first place
And look where that got us.)
I want my normal sleep pattern back
But that's not gonna happen until I can feel safe in my own bed
You want an end to the fighting
You want to bring our troops home
When I feel safe enough to sleep, you can have your peace
If it happens any sooner
We'll be headed for trouble...
Rather
Trouble will be headed for us
Again
And the promise
Will be broken
And we connot afford to break
Anymore promises.
