never wanted

never wanted

Author's Note: For radiation treatments, the specialists map out the areas of your body to be radiated, and the ink markings eventually disappear but the tattoos stay forever. It surprised me when they said I would be getting tattooed.

This is a great idea for a poem. I think there could be more description in this myself. Before I read your author's note I had no clue what you were talking about.

Your strong mindedness really comes out in this piece. Shows how just a few words can say so much.

Starkly touching. Thank you.

wow, i had no idea that happened either. this could make a good haibun, if author's note was first, then your poem.

This is strong and meaningful, Maureen. I have four tats and I've always told everyone who asks...they aren't for everyone...you either love'em or hate'em...but cancer you just hate..(((((((MAUREEN))))))).

The sentiment expressed packs a strong punch. What's amazing is the word economy. Its impact touches my heart, emotionally, if not experientially.

I remember my mom showing them to me (after her surgery, before radiation therapy), and I felt strange, as if she was showing off. I never quite understood her way of dealing with it. (it seemed easier on her than on me). This little ditty has quite a punch to it!
