Expectations of Sanity

by Maureen Glaude

too many endings
at the wake of beginnings
worn in the stiffness
of my shoulders
night to morn

piled up bones
of loved ones gone
some walk
some rest

because I still breathe
I’m expected to rise
pick my way over them
as if no loss is great enough
to paralyze

only in rebellion
can I rise

Who can't but relate to this one; universal in it's expression and empathy. Kind of the point I was driving at in my How Many More?

Gorgeous write Maureen. I often have such feelings as well. Thanks for putting them in words :) ~Jordan

YES! So many favourite bits in this there is no point listing or I would quote the lot. This one makes me keep coming back to it
