Morning on Milton St. by J. P. DaviesVapor slinks lazily
up from the harbour,
as low-slung sun burns,
rain dries from asphalt.
Track rails glow silver
invading corneas with light.
Silouetted buildings show
a strange unbalanced skyline.
Fishing boats drift 'round
Protection and Newcastle Isles.
Heading out to the Strait.
Hoping the fish are there.
A view of a city, reborn,
waking up to amber sunrise.
Some have stirred early
to wend ways to jobs or schools.
Joining them I breathe
in refreshed ocean winds.
A painting in a moment,
is back drop enough
for anyone's walk to work. 05/11/2004 Posted on 05/11/2004 Copyright © 2024 J. P. Davies
