(i would like to kiss your) placebo.

by Andrew S Adams

drunkgin waiting for the quiet
lucid and putrid, out to underestimate
calculated the times where alluminum graced our cancer,
our barebreasted child was taught to drink this milk
from the nipple of a tap.
and the screaming of defiance as a hook/line/sinker
can tear through the mouth it can rip through
a bloodstream, where no fish is safe from
the nervous reaction to every chemical is
felt, noted. documented as proof that no good
will ever come of this.
bar bitch, you wait and ask for another
drink to drown the taste, what a chaser.
is this a cure? hiding symptoms
is all our medication will do.
and thats all we really want.

Author's Note: does this make any sense? it's the 500th poem in my library (second time around, with the whole cleanout i had)... so yay.

"hiding symptoms is all our medication will do. and thats all we really want" - how very sad and true...I see this as a plea by the speaker for such a 'false' cure to the ache of life, "(i would like to kiss your) placebo" - this is telling of the conflict the speaker has...the desire to believe in the placebo is powerful because there is hope in it...if not for the very knowlege that this is a placebo - tragic really. This is how I saw this anyway. Nice job on this one...and yes it makes sense - we are "taught to drink this milk from the nipple of a tap" - drowning in our 'cure'... beautiful. :-)

"and the screaming of defiance as a hook/line/sinker can tear through the mouth it can rip through a bloodstream" I love these lines, of course it makes sense, thanks for the good read!
