For Lina

by Rula Shin

The Palm that carries
me stillÂ…

humble Mother,
green-eyed body of Earth,

a lasting answer to the
age-old question

Youth is the seed
before this garden,

Growth, the nourishing
soil of belief

Truth is the warmth
of healing candor,

Patience, the bleeding
root of acceptance

YOU, a lasting question to the
age-old answer

eternal Mother,
almond-brushed face of Earth,

open Palms
you carry me evermoreÂ…

Author's Note: For my mother...for selflessly lighting a path. Happy Birthday Mom!! (In Arabic ‘Lina’ means “Palm Tree”)

'The Palm that carries....me evermore…' Yes, a beautiful tribute to a 'humble Mother, green-eyed body of Earth'. The very first person to register an impression which means life. The very first person to register an association which means 'home'.
