the manifesto of flesh

by Indigo Tempesta

the body consumes me; it is essential--
all is true in the manifesto of flesh.
the solidity of bone is unquestionable,
the resilience of skin, infamous.

in the body, i see impressions:
     deft, firm legs planted in the ground;
          the slow tilt of the head perched on the neck;
              whip of hand; touch of tongue;
            the turn of a sinuous back--
all is in the manifesto of flesh.

there is the fear that this is unbeautiful;
there is the knowledge that this is us
as we are.

The body is indeed quite beautiful, but even more beautiful is what's contained inside. Thanks for the eye opening ride!
