mad seeker

by Michele Schottelkorb

you know when I force it

mad seeker, woman of the wild

peel the layers

like an onion dipped in chocolate

(sugar and spice and everything nice… you know, we love that movie…)

sadden on contact, then cry through a smile

the darkness that lies beneath, only provides

(foundation for substance, listen)

gothic faerie woman you are (to me)

gentle fearsome mother you be (to me)

gorgeous ethereal visage you see (yes, to me and beyond)

if the earth refused to turn

and the stars came crashing down

if the rivers failed to run

and life froze into the ground

my love for you would not falter

admiration safe and sound

you seek that which you crave (to know)

with fury and passion both

my gaze carries likes the ocean

into the recesses of your “soul”

if I live to be half the woman

I call my dearest friend

then I shall be a better woman

then most are in the end

Author's Note: there are people that come into our lives for specific reasons... i believe this to be true... if you are fortunate to find those souls that compliment your true being, then your work here is that much more rewarding... i am fortunate in this area... this poem is for my dearest friend and sister... i wrote it while at work today, the place where i met the woman who would save my life, in many ways...

One of the most original (non sappy) tributes I've ever read, and couldn't agree more as per your Author's Note. Rock on you both onions dipped in chocolate!!!
