peristalsis.

by Andrew S Adams

screaming out from a vacant building
somebody help me, somebody help me
talking in his sleep again,
somebody save me, somebody save me.
words are coming out his mouth
by the time they catch your ears
someones got to them
someones got to them

peristalsis forcing this pill down your throat
peristalsis forcing this pill down your throat
peristalsis forcing this pill down your throat
let's all pray that you dont choke

nine times out of ten, there's one more who wont agree
unjoin the hinges, see where the pieces rest
nine times out of ten, there's one more who wont agree
crucify the man who didnt pass the test
this logic is rational and computed for the sheep
from the burning building the words cry out
please dont reach your destination
please dont reach your destination

peristalsis forcing this pill down your throat
peristalsis forcing this pill down your throat
peristalsis forcing this pill down your throat
let's all pray that you dont choke

i am another breath of misery, wind whisp the highest tower
i am another breath of distant voices, rain down on god's order
i am another breath of walls, hit me. hit me. hit me.
and i am another interrupted transmission.
change the message, and get it right
let the signal ascend to flight.
when it may reach it's resting place-
(crashland the thought upon your face)
this is the pill to swallow,
this is the ill to the cure.

peristalsis forcing this pill down your throat
peristalsis forcing this pill down your throat
peristalsis forcing this pill down your throat
let's all pray that you dont choke
let's all pray that you dont choke
let's all pray that you dont choke
let's all pray that you dont choke

very good poem, I'd like to see you use this as a springboard for more poems on specific grievances against current political/ social practices. it could be very powerful. I love Ginsburg's "Howl"- it captures a specific moment, when Robert Moses was gutting NYC
