Tears Fall Like Rain

by Cathlyn Cartier

The rain continues long after the tears are gone,
a reminder of what has been lost.

Uncertainty clouds judgement;
dreams go awry;
hope and fear clash in deadly combat.
My heart in the balance
holding on to the promises of love.

No words of love spoken
no gifts for a sign or a token
Yet hope remains strong
whether right or wrong
and the heart waits to be broken.

Promises as of yet are not given
but each day requires to be lived in...

Author's Note: Not quite sure if I'm done with this yet. This was written in one sitting, however, at the time I felt it would be at least two different poems. For now, it remains as written.

the awful feeling of deadness and almost apathy that strikes when the hope of love dies is evident in this pain-filled piece, so vividly written.

One day at a time! You've expressed most poignantly the deep sense of lost love but always the yearning for, the reaching out for renewal--for a new sense of love. An aching beauty in this piece as it is.

Quite the strong spiritual expression here Cathlyn; much truth and wisdom. Excellent closure in those last two lines. Kudos!
