tabula rasa

by Michele Schottelkorb

a mind untarnished by knowledge~

refreshing, don’t you think?

{thank you for your judgment call

on my ambivalent behalf

your righteous benevolence

would put the almighty itself to shame}

so here we stand

blank tablets without a shot in the dark

or, perhaps

the flip side really is greener

to look outside and see

what the world was meant to be

{without your seal of approval}

I think I’ll be okay

and make it through a brand new day

in fact, I do believe it’s true~

tabula rasa {goodbye to you}

Author's Note: tabula rasa: the mind before it receives the impressions gained from experience (Locke) or a clean slate/fresh start... (medieval Latin)
