A Patchwork above this tree by Sam Roberts

Velvet arms and legs are hanging down
We would knot a tornado of shadows,
and fight the web in the sky
caressing this boughs emptiness
Filled with porcelain thoughts; a cavity of delights,
Chalk stones are being scratched into sweet nothings
and I watch, as you draw me an exit sign
So, I walk.
There is a patchwork above this tree
Loves labyrinth sits here;
Tasting roses, amused as I collapse,
I struggle, stealing each tangled web on the way down,
Cutting myself through a vindictive passion, a hope
Drawing blood from the blades of grass; this colour of love
Sarcastically thinking, screaming
well Im here, to remind you of the mess you left when you went away
Remains - my lifeless rose carcass
Spilling its contents; My hysteria has been exposed
02/07/2004 Author's Note: "well I'm here to remind you, of the mess you left when you went away" - Is a song by Alanis Morissette. I was inspired to write this after listening to her.
