'Moonshine' by Rula Shin
Her laughs of silver
Rain sang timeless vigil
For shadows unseen
Thunderous clamor,
Pearlies glowing,
Stretched mouth
A blaze
I felt her dark delight
And turned,
You wanna lay around the shanty, mamma?
Put a good buzz on?
She nods her bonfire head
Burning crimson red
And swallows down the flame
01/30/2004 Author's Note: Addiction is the erotic kiss of death. And here we are friends...lovingly feeding each other poison. (Quoted is a line from Jonathan Edwards "Shanty").

Posted by Ashok Sharda on 02/01/04 at 01:51 PM Oh! this is so american and so difficult for person like me who is so un-american and mis-fit in these modern ways of life. Though I wish to congratulate the poet in showing courage to stand againt swallowing 'down the flame. I agree, its luring, its erotic, in a sense but its poison. |
Posted by David R Spellman on 02/01/04 at 03:30 PM I can feel the tug and temptation of addiction in this piece and loved the closing stanza especially. |
