dressing for the weather of your words

by Kimberly Bare

you talk of
all the reasons

with eyes
speaking of regret

you are
fickle as the
changing of the seasons

and i
haven't learned
to dress in layers yet

This is excellent! Loved the interplay of changing seasons and fickle nature... clever for sure!

Wow, this is such a great poem. Very simple but full of meaning. I really love how the last two lines relate directly to the title, "the weather of your words...[and] i haven't learned to dress in layers yet" - wonderful reference! I really like this :-)

I love the "fickle"ness -- and the 'whether' (unsureness) implied in "weather"-- the linking of weather and words is especially rich and beautiful to me... and "layers" --another, both linguistic and seasonal reference as meanings, temperatures, and relationship unfolds. The kind of changing and adaptation, so hard to keep up with-- has a tangible, living quality here.

WOW! Not only is it clever, it packs a message AND a punch. Definitely a fave.
