I am a stone

by Traci Mabats

I am
a stone
I am
cold and relentless
impermeable
I am solid
I do not cry
I do not hope
I do not dream
I am not crushed
like a flower
beneath careless heels
I do not crumble easily
under pressure
or decay with time

I wish I were a stone

A remarkable exercise in fragility, Sharona. I like the positive stance this piece takes and the metaphoric slap in the face of reality. Pe4ce...

You started so assertively-'I am a stone.....solid' and ended up a bit not so sure-'I wish I were a stone'. Well, this states the state of your world, within as well as without. I wish I were a stone has another dimension, too. You sound so fed up with this so called animate world. Well, this piece conveys the intended meaning.

Excellent use of metaphor and analogy. I'm sure we all at times have wished for the same. Wish I had written this...glad you did.

Walls of brick can take you there. This one touched me deeply the sting of pain because of humaness is so obvious throughout.
