thanks to a brown eyed girl by Rachelle Howei ache to touch your eyelids,
paint them with charcoal stained fingers.
i would open up the world
to your every whim if
you'd allow me to call out
a single name.
a broken puppet,
i crumble, grounded.
my limbs are useless,
i flail, and drown
in the memories,
the regret.
you've been there,
meeting me halfway
with arms outstretched,
with unconditional love.
i want to thank you,
but with a dried tongue,
choked vowels
are all i have the strength for
these days.
01/26/2004 Author's Note: sarah, my soul, my sister, my friend. i ache with love for you today.

Posted by Mainon A Schwartz on 01/26/04 at 08:38 PM Brilliant encomium... and yet a dusty exploration of debasement in the face of something praiseworthy. You combine flattery and humility without blinking-- so I blink, instead, in amazement. You crucify me. |
Posted by Rula Shin on 01/27/04 at 05:06 PM Gorgeous and honest tribute, "i want to thank you, but with a dried tongue, choked vowels are all i have the strength for these days." Evoked in me a great feeling of longing and the immobility it can cause. Awesome read! :-)
