The Gift by David R Spellman
Some mystical swell
like fruit that must
by nature ripen
and exude its scent
delicious and
compelling.
No
more like flowers blooming
patiently growing from seed
to bud... and open up
magical displays
wondrous beauty that
attracts no more
no less a creature
than you
or me
hovering around
to devour its
pollinated ware
turning it into
nothing sweeter than
honey...
that makes you such
more pleasure to receive

Posted by Rula Shin on 01/25/04 at 04:10 AM This poem has such captivating imagery, and the opening stanza is simply stunning, "fruit that must by nature ripen and exude its scent
delicious and compelling." There is definitely a sensual and raw tone throughout the piece...really beautiful work!
