topic: i wrapped my fingers around her brain...

by Rachelle Howe

i've gone and played god again.
i wrapped my fingers around her throat
like a cigarette, burned her
with eyes that snaked and forked.
eyes that tore into the very makeshift
she'd said was my flawless character.

and she broke like glass,
i threw stones into her torso,
she welded, she fell. she bent.
and i was her weakness,
but she had been there
on bruised knees
cheeks stained with tears
and ash.

Author's Note: the ending's weak. ugh. but! sarah allard, yet again. inspired this.

Excellent title, and a great start. See this as one of those poems that will continually evolve over the years, only getting better.
