Dreams of Black Bricks

by Max Bouillet

She is the darkness that forms
the tunnel that leads
to the bright light
we journey to upon death.

The calm allurement
that gives rest
to overwhelmed eyes
searching for saviors.

But pause too long
and she'll swallow you up
with a slurp and a belch
and you'll become
another black brick
lengthening the tunnel
to God.

Quite mysterious and a bit haunting. Deep in its simplicity, evocative in its images.

this is one i need to sit on (but not for too long... i don't want to be a black brick)... contemplative and very well written piece... blessings...

To add the black tunnel to the list of what women are capable of...yikes again. Your work never ceases to amaze me by forcing me to look at things differently. I think I'll start a notebook, "The wide world of women, according to Max". What do you think?

Oh my word... Max... this is awesome. There's a song by Jimmy Webb, sung by Art Garfunkle, called "All My Love's Laughter" - it is so much like this... what a warning... what a warning.

"lengthening the tunnel to God" there's a lot of depth and darkness to this piece...as of late, a seemingly evil woman has been your catalyst...

Can a poem be vivid and dark at the same time? If it is a Bouillet it can. Your work always transports me to another level... Brilliant, Max. Thanks.
