Clairvoyant Waters

by Amy Niggel

Unaware of what the future may hold
for this pair of shaking hands
this scared little heart.
Not wishing to press forward into the unknown
yet unable to stay
tied to things that will only weigh down.
Unwilling to admit defeat
or ignorance
or helplessness
so I struggle on
yet another drop
in this puddle we call an ocean
yet another ocean
in this fishtank of a world.
clairvoyant waters run deeper than still ones can fathom
I see everything in a tear drop
and nothingness in the largest seas.
I am unaware what the future holds
but I am willing to swim
willing to drown
if only to get off of this shore.

Loved the title and all the metaphoric uses of water-related terms. A good introspection into the fear we often feel of the unknown but realizing the need to move on into it. Well done.

This is an intricate poem, Amy. It seems to be dancing between a glimmer of hope in one breath, and desperation in another, leaving the reader to decide. Pe4ce...

Worthy use of water imagery and metaphors. Great ending. Congrats on POTD, well deserved!
