....reverb....

by Leslie Ann Eisenberg

low riders
throb smoke signals

my feet teeter on the brink

ear to the ground,
wild stallions clomp closer

boot quake

before one note owns a name,
thin thrum horsebeats
pound up my chest

thum
thum
thum

pale elves chant
soprano sin-song

here
here
they're coming

....one skip beat....

{fermata}

triggers volcanoes to blast
hub-cap rock sparks

they palpate
i bleed

mounted warriors run my engine hot

and they won’t stop

their uphill cadence beats my core

the edge,
solace no more

Author's Note:

....a vertical uprising....

i credit this style, and the invented words to dear aiko, and her masterpiece. my favorite poem, the first one i ever read on this site. sync you midi much, dear pixie. you are missed. written in the car while blasting "bring me to life" by evanescence. listen to that song and tell me it doesn't change your life forever.

the form is vivid and creates a great atmosphere. I liked the image of the mounted warrior, and the beat of the horses' hooves.

Leslie-I am really impressed with the imagery and beat. The reader is there with that "thum thum." Very good work.

Leslie, as usual, you have created another incredible poem. The beat and the imagery are mental calisthentics for me.

I'm promising myself right now that I'll use the word "palpate" soon, since I just love it so much now, lol. you always have the perfect words for the perfect situtations Leslie. does Aiko know about this piece yet? if not.. send her a message. I'm sure she'd love to read it.

Leslie, this is incredible. It holds a bittersweet-sadness-joy memory that can't be stopped. It is vivid and rocks to its own beat.
