Your Picture

by Kate Demeree

Your Picture

I awoke this morning...

The scent of you... was in my hair

I could not find you...

Although I looked everywhere

Disappearing footsteps...

On the carpet near the hall...

Lead me to your portrait...

Hanging lonely upon the wall

Standing there before you...

Tears streaming from broken eyes...

Seeing your rugged smile...

Again, under the summer skies

Stretching forth my hand...

To your beloved face

Extending a finger

Your lower lip to trace

Remembering... thrilling little kisses

Upon my aching finger tips

Strong firm hands

Made to mold my willing hips

As they pulled me closer

To the fulfillment of our desire

My body cries to hold you

It still remembers when

Even as my mind argues

I will never be again

Lost here in a memory

Of a time so very long ago...

Trapped within a body

That yearns within the picture

It could go

Back...

Back...

To the time

When our souls were very young

To the first time we loved

Beneath the summer sun

Slowly passes the winter...

Drifting into the spring

Oh my darling I miss you

Come

Return

Teach my heart

To

Sing...

Slowly grinds the wheel of time...

Until we meet again

Setting here holding your picture

Within my arms

So that I may once more

Rest my head on your chest

While I remember

Things about you...

I liked the best

The smell of you in the morning...

The smile in your eye

The funny way you would grin

Each time I walked by

I loved your hands...

So strong when called upon

To perform any given task

Yet when you touched my body

More gentle

Than anyone could ask

Slowly and with purpose

For you knew what you were about

Each and every time...

You drew my passion out

You found the pieces of me

Other lovers had left behind

Spoke to not only my body

Made love to my mind

I love to hear your laugh...

Deep... within the velvet night

I love the way you gathered the quiet

How you could speak without a word

Deep within our beings

Our souls always heard

And your eyes

Sitting against the cold wall

As the tears silently... fall

Whispering your name

Into the ears of the night

Holding you close

With no more will to fight

Remembering what has been

Asking what will be?

Dear God I pray

As I see the first light

of Yet another Day...

Without

You...

ere that we could to youthful springs return our aged flow and torch the forest with our lights well spent and passion. you have done both here and admirably so, Kate.

As always you have painted a beautiful picture for us with a brilliant walk down memory lane. You made me feel as if I were there with you. Your words took my breath away and brought a tear to my eye. *smiles*

A beautiful expression of saddness and yearning of someone lost..outstanding imagery...and the use of reminders (ie)scent and the picture is memorable

Associations rooted deep of emotional nature are bound to bring back the moments lived and relived time and again. This living and reliving helps release of the repressed desires, unfulfilled wishes and longings. This flowing piece depicts those moments beautifully. For you this was living again.
