My Christmas Gift by Cathlyn CartierTwinkling strands light up the night,
carols ring in the air,
decorations adorn trees and rooftops,
preparations for the season evident everywhere.
The days will pass much too soon,
then twill be Christmas Day.
In all of the hustling, bustling about
have we reflected on the purpose? I doubt
many can even recall
the true reason for this season.
Giving gifts one to another,
as if we must compete.
The greatest gift has already been givn
it made our salvation complete.
This year the gift I long for most
doesnt come with a remote;
it doesnt make toast
The gift I wish that I could share
The story of Gods love to lost souls everywhere.
12/07/2003 Author's Note: This started with a reflection on "Winter Wonderland" for the December "30 Somethings" Challenge. This is were muse led me.

Posted by Susan Q Tomas on 12/26/03 at 03:04 AM It is a strong desire of mine to make everyone aware of the gift God has given us. I want to share it so much it makes my heart ache. But as you know, not everyone accepts the gift yet. Joy to you who, for not only desiring the gift, but also accepting it. |

Posted by Glenn Currier on 01/08/04 at 04:53 AM It is amazing how easy it is to get swept up in the material and even the relational aspects of the season and forget the spiritual meaning to which your poem brings needed attention. |
