War with Nature

by Stephanie Myers

Dig deeper and deeper into mother earth
Hear her screams and cries of dissention
Change not what for but for what to change
Rape her and beat her make her scream your name
Pour your blood sweat and tears into the soil
Plant your seeds from your semen to spawn your evil children
Sowing your wild oats to provide more hungry
Building miles of metal for all the eyes to see
Ripping paper money's down from your money tree
Burning a path through nature to create more for civilization
Using tendons, muscle, and fat for your deconstruction
I cry to the mother
I feel her pain
Miles of wonder destroyed for a single gain
Millions of paths treaded through the for
The trough of our existence
The slop pile where we belong
Our humanity destroyed
Our cups filled to the brim
Trying to live with nature
At war with nature
And we won
When the Stars in the sky burn out
And the oceans are rising
We'll have no mountains to climb to protect us from the elements
Hoveling before the Mother
Begging for forgiveness
We have sinned and those sins have been reciprocated for our deaths

'Miles of wonder destroyed for a single gain' This reflects the central idea of this sensitive piece. And yes, this effect is bound to create another cause for yet another effect-'We have sinned and those sins have been reciprocated for our deaths'

Although I firmly believe that Mother Earth has ways of biting back (cancer and global warming), a good reminder that she's all we have (for now), so we better treat her right.

I'm glad I revisited this piece. Reminds me of the movie, The Matrix, ...at one point man is described as a virus. Perhaps a good opening line for your poem, in italics, with credit given to the movie???
