Slipstream

by David R Spellman

The
hourglass was left
unfulfilled; its contents
no longer spilled, except for the
occasional grain, slipping from
frozen streams like drops of
frigid water forming
icicles
and
stalagmites
which rose to greet
the slow rush of impending
time, only to bridge the gap that
bends into unfashionable shapes
left to knowing nothing
but the assurance of
uncertainty
?

Beautiful to the eye without reading it! I think reflects the uncertainty of our times from the World's point of view. While Christians have anxiety over events I am sure, their worldview keeps them steady and stable. No panic! Rather trust!

Truly haunting and even mildly disturbing David. And I like it very much for that fact. A firm reminder in a subtle sense of how many things in life we leave unfinished. Our time here is indeed quite finitem as hourglass depicts.

a concrete poem that definitely matches it text's flow and message perfectly

Tremendous manipulation of time --both in concept and form. The words are masterfully crafted and the last line "the assurance of uncertainty" resonates with the reader long after the poem has been read. Thank you for sharing.

This is a work of genius; the hourglass shape is perfect.

Excellent poem with great images. Time is one of the few things that are certain - because it never stops. Congratulations on POTD.

Uhhh! The more I read this the more I recognize the relationship between time and space. I like everything about this Poem Of The Day. Congratulations on the clever title too! How apropos.
