there are no walls

by Erin Werle

like clockwork,
these gears in hand and Shiva's tongue
delving past my lips
to freeze my chest
my heart
my ha nds.

i've been here too long -
the seconds are ticking
with a
vengeance,
and there's something missing from this
sharp facade of you.

shuffle down these halls of dark despair,
and flailing aurora
as she kisses your cheek with a reckless
abandon
and caustic indifference to your (lies) cries of terror.

i've seen you before,
here alone, and kissing idols hands and faces
making places to frame these walls
you can't get past,
but don't destroy.

don't break free of this,
strumming lingers in these halls
mirrored fog and twirling menthol smoke
enshrouds my lungs
in essence of you,
and you'll see me as I lose my place in line.

sour rain is falling from that violent sky
to you, and to my lips
[you're left behind]

curtains of that colourful
solar-wind afterbirth, and nightmares gone
hide you as you strip
and shower in that essential dehydration.

this is my dependency -
this you is my downfall
my embrace
the embracer.

something circles 'round my head
in this place,
there are no walls.

Author's Note: It's obscure, yes, but not intended to seem dark, in any sense. Remarkably, it is a love poem, and I'm quite fond of it. . . Wow. :)

Wow. What a delightful read. Your imagery alone made this a great poem, but the contrasts were making my brain itch. Excellent and into my favorites. Nice style.
