Lazy Eight

by Max Bouillet

…and lately, I feel

if I crack my neck

hard enough, the

‘pop’ would take me

back to an era

of sled rides

and paper airplanes.

But

the water under the bridge

keeps pulling me down.

Reminding me that

the past is an echo

of future mistakes

and that

infinity is nothing more

than a lazy eight

that hits the instant replay button

on the time

I pulled a hair

from the dog that bit me

from between my teeth

and I responded to the message

she left on my machine

with all the insincere zeal

of keeping an appointment

to check my prostate.

and here you go... your use of todays commonalities with age old feeling makes your poetry so real and breathable... in response to your poem... try getting a raft, dear friend... for hope floats... ::smile::... another brilliant piece... blessings...

Had to laugh at the image of you picking the dog hair out of your teeth! And the zeal bit just kills me. Another witty bit of mind-bending here.

I suppose this poem is suppose to be poignant and somber reminder of the "downs" of life. However, I laughed out loud reading those last lines! Only those who have had to deal with prostate exams would understand fully! LOL!

This reminded me that I miss reading your works. Congrats on POTD!
