This Christmas...

by J. P. Davies

If 'twere enough to laugh
at this and say "It's all a game."
Then this December never seemed so cold,
as when I couldn't find the words.
But the smile on your face
as you sit there by the fire
and speak in riddles of giggles,
is enough to bring a slanted smile
to the face of one,
who has done his best for you.
It's as if the world was meant for people,
just like you and me, who can laugh
into each others eyes while tearing up inside.
But to you this christmas, I'll give this gift.
I'll laugh and smile....for real.
And my eyes shall not be tragic
because your still in my world.
So grant me this one wish this year
and I'll be satisfied...
Just show me your true smile.
When I look into your eyes.

... And it's beautiful. Makes me smile just thinking about your grin (Psst, by the way...ILoveYou)

Excellent reminder that smiles are so important, even if forced...especially this time of year. I see much of my son and myself in this when he was going through a very scary and uncertain period of clinical depresssion a few years back. Thanks for the reminder of how far he and I have come!
