Aelan :: exposed;

by Jolie Jordan

Oh intricate petals
I marvel in your midst
the soft pink of your outsides
breathes light to your intersoul
striking my being with tinges of saddness
how you will soon vanish from me, and turn
from a opened delicate shape,
to a discoloured rotten core
which will be snatched from dark branches & devoured
without little thought
as to what
you were
before.

Author's Note: I found this photo on my computer. I don't remember taking it, so I must have saved it and forgot where it came from or who took it, but it inspired me to write this rather short poem.

this poem is lovely and is perfectly tuned and in concert and acceptance with the fatalism which is life.

what a profound and beautifully sad poem... my daughter was sitting with me whilst i read your writing and she was staring at your flower and she made up a poem of her own... i'm going to go and post it... you have inspired both myself AND a fouryearold poet... thank you... blessings...

I love those inspiartions that come from nature. Especially those with deep themes like the impermanence of beauty and youth. Strong poem that has a lot to say!
