topic: sitting under falling stars

by Rachelle Howe

your limbs are orphans.
they've been neglected,
rejected, and sent into
the timbered snow.
i could sweep you up,
shovel you out, but
you'd be shivering
in the cold spell.
there are many days
when i am whisked
to those fallen lands:
streets with names i do not know,
and cars that are waiting accidents.
(bubbles are fine,
only if you keep the glass,
but some are sure to swell
when you throw rocks from inside.)

you are a hypocrite.
its not the first time
i've said such things.
my tongue is spindle-forked,
each aspect of your
creation abominable to my view.
i erased you from all files,
kept you locked
in my trash bin.
(i would recycle, but
i'd rather not pollute.)

my marrow burns hot.
the temperature of my temper
boils over, and you've been chosen
to catch the spill.
we could have been sitting
under falling stars
if you hadn't ruined the sky
a long time ago.

'Call it like you see it' attitude with excellent images that fill the senses with a barrage of celestial events. Great read and a splendid topic home-run. :)

yes, your status is most definitely retained. you astound me my friend, how do you do it? your imagery is startlingly vivid, and your biting tone packs power into this amazing piece. i held my breath from this line “my tongue is spindle-forked, each aspect of your creation abominable to my view,” until the last stanza in which you ending just blew me away. you have transformed my topic into a more mind-blowing piece than i could’ve imagined. i bow before you. :)
